Transfer from Vienna International Airport to Vienna

If you travel to your conference in Vienna by plane you will presumably arrive at the Vienna International Airport, which is approx. 15 km away from Vienna. Some low cost carriers however do not alight at the Vienna International Airport but use the Bratislava Airport in slovakia for flights to Vienna, which is approx. 55 km away from Vienna. On this page we have prepared a list of the different transfer possibilities from the airport to Vienna.

Vienna International Airport (VIE)

The journey time from the Vienna International Airport to Vienna is approx. 15 - 30 min. depending on the means of transport (train, bus ort taxi). Keep in mind that the actual jouney time may also depend on the traffic conditions, if you are going by bus or taxi.

When you have arrived in Vienna you can use the public means of traffic of Vienna to proceed to your hotel in Vienna.

City Airport Train CAT

The City Airport Train is the nonstop connection between the station Wien Mitte / Landstraße and Vienna International Airport. The ride takes approx. 16 min. From the station Wien Mitte / Landstraße you have access to the underground lines U3 and U4.

If you are using the CAT you can check in your luggage at the City Air Terminal at the station Wien Mitte / Landstraße.

  • from Wien Mitte to the airport: from 05:36 to 23:06 every 30 minutes
  • from the airport to Wien Mitte: from 06:09 to 23:39 every 30 minutes

Fare

  • one way ticket for one adult: from 11.00 €
  • round-trip ticket for one adult: from 17.00 €

Schnellbahn S7

The S7 is the regional railroad connection of the Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB between the Vienna International Airport and Vienna. the journey time from and to the station Wien Mitte / Landstraße is about 24 min respectively, because the S7 stops at several stations along the way.

You have good access to the public transport network of Vienna at the stations Wien Mitte / Landstraße (underground lines U3 and U4), Wien Nord / Praterstern (underground line U1) and Handelskai (underground line U6).

Timetable S7

  • from Wien Mitte to the airport: basically from 04:49 am to 11:49 pm every 30 minutes (on workdays the first train is at 04:19 am and there are trains in between this interval)
  • from the airport to Vienna: basically from 05:18 am to 06:18 am every 30 minutes, 06:45 am, 07:18 am, 07:45 am, and from 08:18 am to 00:18 am again every 30 minutes (on workdays the first train is at 04:48 am and there are trains in between this interval)

Fare

  • one way ticket for one adult: 4.20 € (You have to purchase your ticket in advance at a ticket vending machine!)

Note: Your ticket is also valid in the public means of transport of Vienna and you can use it for your trip to and from your hotel in Vienna.

Airport bus of the Vienna AirportLines

The Vienna AirportLines operate several bus lines between Vienna and the Vienna International Airport.

VAL 1: Westbahnhof (Vienna West Station) - Vienna International Airport

The trip takes approx. 45 min. From Vienna West Station you have access to the underground lines U3 and U6.

The bus stops also at the underground stations Volkstheater (U2, U3), Rathaus (U2) and Schottentor (U2).

  • to the airport: from 05:15 am to 11:45 pm every 30 minutes
  • from the airport: from 06:05 to 00:05 every 30 minutes

VAL 2: Wien Schwedenplatz - Vienna International Airport

This line operates 24 hours a day and the trip takes approx. 20 min. From Schwedenplatz you have access to the underground lines U1 and U4.

  • to the airport: from 00:30 am, 02:00 am and from 04:00 am to 11:30 pm every 30 minutes
  • from the airport: from 01:20 am, 02:50 am and from 04:50 am to 00:20 am every 30 minutes

VAL 3: Kagran - UNO City / Vienna International Center - Vienna International Airport

The trip takes approx. 20 - 45 min. (depending where you get on or off the bus). From Vienna International Center (VIC) you have access to the underground line U1. The Vienna International Center is also one of the main conference venues. In that case you can go by bus directly from the airport to the conference or vice versa.

On the way from Donauzentrum (U1) to the Vienna International Airport the bus also stops at the underground stations Krieau (U2), Stadion (U2) and Donaumarina (U2). Furthermore you can also enter the bus at Hotel Lenas Donau and at Hotel NH Danube City.

On the way from Vienna International Airport to the way to Donauzentrum (U1) the bus also stops at the underground stations Donaumarina (U2), Stadion (U2) and Krieau (U2). Furthermore you can also leave the bus at the Hotel Park Inn.

  • from Donauzentrum to the airport: from 05:58 am to 06:58 pm every 60 minutes
  • from VIC to the airport: from 06:10 am to 07:10 pm every 60 minutes
  • from the airport: from 07:10 am to 08:10 pm every 60 minutes

Fare

  • one way ticket for one adult: 8.00 €
  • round-trip ticket for one adult: 13.00 €

Taxi

Taxis are waiting right in front of the arrival building of the airport. The fare depends on the destination in Vienna and is approx. 30.00 - 40.00 €.
